As a practitioner …

I am a Naturopath (BHSc Naturopathy) and am a registered practitioner with the Australian Natural Therapies Association (ANTA) and the Naturopaths and Herbalists Association of Australia (NHAA).

Passionate about empowering others with information to better their health, I am a research driven practitioner always updating my knowledge through scientific journals and seminars, whilst maintaining a holistic approach which has been utilised by naturopaths for centuries.

I take a tailored approach, looking at the root causes of your symptoms and creating a treatment plan which aligns with your lifestyle, culture, goals and financial constraints.

Functional testing and a combination of dietary and lifestyle therapies are all part of my techniques together with the careful use of herbal medicine and supplements.

Working with me

My Background…

I am passionate about  digestive health and the gut microbiome. This passion stems from my own experience with chronic digestive conditions (predominantly SIBO). This experience got me particularly interested in the interface between gut health and mental health. Poor gut health contributes to or is at the root of a huge number of health conditions!

I have a background in research and am now (2022) beginning a post graduate research degree looking at how complementary medicine such as Naturopathy can benefit trans people!

I’m very conscious of creating a safe inclusive space for all in my work. This involves practicing and affirming health with every approach I take and having a conscious awareness around the systemic issues which impact health.

LGBTQIA+ Health is my special area of Interest

Inclusivity and creating a safe space for the LGBTQIA+ community is an important goal for me.

As a proud member of the trans community I am able to provide safe and understanding care. I have a deep understanding around gender affirming hormones and avoiding any potential unwanted interactions with herbal or nutritional therapies. Supporting trans and gender diverse health can involve reducing/preventing symptoms related to hormone therapy or unrelated areas of health which still require an understanding of the varied experiences of gender diverse folk. This also involves understanding the discrimination this group faces and how this can effect their physical health.

During the early stages of my own transition I experienced symptoms like hot flashes and poor concentration due to fluctuating/dropping estrogen levels and I was lucky enough to find a naturopath with experience in this area to support me through that phase. I would love to be that naturopath for the support of other trans and gender diverse folk at any stage throughout their transition/life.

We currently have a crisis of a lack of accessible health care for trans and gender diverse people and my personal aim is to create more safe spaces for our community to access health care through my work as a practitioner and researcher.

What I like doing outside of work

Outside of work I enjoy painting, walks in nature, participating in community sports and training in the sport of power lifting.

I wish to acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land I practice on, the Whadjuk Noongar people. I recognises their continuing connection to land, waters and community and pay my respects to them and their cultures; and to elders both past and present.
